Satanstoe or, The Littlepage Manuscripts
James Fenimore Cooper was a prolific and popular American writer of the first half of the 19th century. His historical romances of frontier and Indian life in the early American days created a unique form of American literature. Satanstoe is the first of a three novels cycle "The Littlepage Manuscripts", followed by "The Chainbearer" and "The Redskins". The novel is a fictional autobiography, that gives a comprehensive view of colonial life and society in New York State in the middle of the eighteenth century, blending all these elements with the narrative skill for which the author has always been famous.
